Cosy Apartment, 150m from Acropolis Metro

Best experience we could have in Athens. Positive: I cannot imagine a better location for the price. Just steps away from the main attractions Athens has to offer. The only downside was the hot water heater stopped working when we were there. They offered another apartment nearby, but we decided to stay since we just had one more night. They refunded us $35, which was nice. Great hosts.

This place, at an excellent location, is not being maintained and is not properly outfitted for rent Positive: The location was excellent, but views were totally miserable (see below) CONTINUATION OF THE RESPONSE TO THE NEXT QUESTION The ambience of the place is depressing. Two balconies, containing buckets and mops and ladders and plastic cupboards full of stuff, facing ugly backsides of apartments from where people had a full view of our bedroom (in contrast to the actual views from the balconies, the listing showed a photo of the Parthenon). The interior features a vacuum cleaner in the dining area and a refrigerator with no door handle. The bedroom has a four-door closet for hanging cloth es (few poor-quality hangers) and bottom shelves made of metal rods. No solid shelves or drawers anywhere. There is also a large built-in closet with drawers and shelves filled with someone else’s belongings and clothes.. One of the bedside lamps has a broken switch. A piece of baseboard by the kitchen kept falling off. An empty wide medicine cabinet mounted in the narrow hallway is hazardous. Tiny shower, handheld spray with no wall support, slippery floor, thin plastic curtain. No kitchen supplies or towels. Sorry we did not think to take photographs. We were just coping. Negative: Finding the key was a nightmare on a Saturday around 7 p m. We only had a landline phone number that was never answered. We called Booking.com. They reached loanna who called us and gave confusing instructions. We had to drag our suitcases two blocks away, retrieved keys that did not work, and went back because there were three adjacent stores with the same street number that she gave us. We got the right keys and loanna's mobile number. On our first morning, there was no hot water. loanna did not answer the phone and did not return the call. We called Booking.com again. They tracked loanna again. She came with a screwdriver, got a ladder from the balcony, and tweaked the water heater. It worked, but obviously it was an ongoing problem. We were told to make sure the heater ran only 20 minutes (we had indeed followed instructions carefully). We told loanna about the non-­functioning under-cabinet lights in the kitchen and she promised an electrician would come the next day. No electrician showed up and loanna again did not respond to a call. The next day, the hot water ran out in less than 10 minutes. loanna again did not answer or return the call. We called Booking.com a third time. An electrician showed up later in the day and did the same tweaking, but paid no attention when we told him we suspected a bigger problem (the water was not heated adequately). No one had told him anything about the kitchen lights. He volunteered to fix them and succeeded in fixing only one. Two days later the hot water was out again, but this time Maria answered the mobile line. She was very helpful, found an electrician on a Sunday, who fixed the problems by replacing the water-heater thermostat. We left the next day. Three days without hot water, for which twice we had to call Booking.com to get the problem addressed, calls for a refund of three days' rent. We trust Booking.com will back us. Positive: Location was absolutely amazing - super close to the main attractions! Negative: The bathroom was a bit small, difficult to take a shower and the bed was not to our liking - but in general, it was a good stay!

Positive: ottima posizione, cucina fornita. Biancheria e bagni puliti. Negative: Da nessuna parte era segnalato che per avere l'acqua calda nell'appartamento avremmo dovuto seguire una procedura che prevedeva l'attesa di 20 minuti dal nostro rientro nell'appartamento. Inoltre l'acqua calda prodotta nei 20 minuti di attesa non bastava per 4 doccie veloci.. Avrei voluto saperlo prima.
